The church of St Paul, located at the High, (town centre)
The foundation stone laid in 1957 by the Home Secretary, the Rt. Hon. R. A. Butler.
Cannon Knight read his first cermon at St Pauls in May 1957 and the two thousandth in Febuary 1986, the text was the sermon of 1957.
It was consecrated in 1959, the first wedding took place in May 1959.
Designed by Derreck Humpreys, a cruciform building with a copper covered spire and separate bell tower.
The six bells of St Paul were brought from the church of Holy Trinity,West Ham, London
In 1967 a new organ was added.

Inside, the décor is brightly coloured, with extensive use of red.
There is a large mosaic behind the altar designed by John Piper
