It started with one mans quest to find out who was playing in Harlow area pubs.
Fed up with missing groups he decided to compile a list, then a website, then a data base.
Now it's expanded with, Gigs & Info in Essex, Hertfordshire, Bedforshire and North London..
It's the bible for pub music!!!
Foot note: Colin and Ruth had built the music trade up from duos to groups in the Purple Emperor, for many years it was the leading music pub in Harlow, with a small stage and two live band nights, Friday and Saturday.
Realistically only
rivaled by the Willow and the Marne Inn at Bishops Stortford, then the brewery managment of both the Purple Emperor and the Willow lost their way, the Shark had become the "in pub" for live music in Harlow.
After two years in the doldrums, at last new management, Martin, has taken over the Purple Emperor
things are changing, the Gig list can be seen here The Purple Emperor now has karaoke on Thursday, plus there is live music both Friday and Saturday nights! Martin has an ambition to make the Purple Emperor Harlow's top live music pub once again, in my opinion he has already achieved it, with his mix of music attracting new artists onto the pub seen in Harlow.
For anyone who hasn't been to any of the music pubs in Harlow and is concerned about the quality of the music, some of the groups have played at the Playhouse where it can cost you £15 or more admission, in the pubs it's mainly free admission.
