Roy's Scores On The Doors Review |
|---|---|
I must admit to being quite impressed with the concept of the local authority publishing the findings of it's environmental health officers, I was so impressed when Harlow's "scores on the doors" was first published in the autumn of 2008 "Roy's Harlow" linked to the published findings extensively on the "Harlow pub's" page and on "Harlow Restaurants & Food Providers" links page. As time went on I began to think again, I noticed the dates of the last visit, often over a year ago, sometimes nearly two years ago. Staff in the catering trade can be very transient, a chef that achieved four or five stars could have moved on to bigger and better kitchens, equally a chef that scored none or one star might have also moved on. So what is the point of "scores on the doors" ? The only conclusion I can come to is: It gives you an idea of what the environmental health officers found when they visited and establishment, not what you might find today, yesterday or tomorrow, because of this it can only be used as a vague guide. I've watched some updates, where an establishment has risen from the depths of a one star to a four star rating, equally a four star down to a three, it is only as good as the last inspection date, please if you use this guide and you think it might influence where you eat please take a look at the last time an establishment was visited, then draw your own conclusion. |
